If you're looking for a comfortable, cozy, and convenient home away from home, "The White's House" is for you. Located in the heart of the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood, "The White's House" is a completely private English basement apartment located on 400 10th St. SE. That puts us just 10 blocks from the US Capitol Building, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court.

But even better, our house is a quick three-block walk to the Eastern Market Metro stop. Hop on the Metro (DC's subway system) and you can be at the Smithsonian museums in ten minutes!

The Eastern Market metro stop derives its name from Eastern Market (located across the street) which has been in existence since 1873 - one of DC's original "grocery stores." It is a local, Capitol Hill treasure! Inside, on weekdays, you will find butchers, fishmongers, cheese sellers, a bakery, and fresh fruit and vegetables. On the weekends, the market welcomes all kinds of artists and artisans as well as additional fresh fruit, vegetable, and flower vendors - not to mention all the "treasures" of a flea market.

"The White's House" provides you with full apartment in the English Basement of Scott, Beth, and Ellie White's Capitol Hill row house. Perfect for two people or a couple with a young child, it is a completely private apartment that includes an eat-in kitchen with all the conveniences of home - a full sized oven/rangetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, and garbage disposal. The main room is a large living area with a queen-sized bed, futon, and color Cable TV. The private bath is located between the kitchen and the living area. And, if you really want to do laundry on your vacation, you have access to a washer and dryer on the same floor. The apartment also has a private phone line with free local calls. You can use this line to hook up to the Internet.

The kitchen is stocked with breakfast foods and snacks - to include freshly baked homemade brownies for all of our guests! In addition, there are pots and pans, china, cutlery, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker so you can cook and dine at home if you want. On-street parking is available.

While it may not be as fancy as the Lincoln Bedroom at the other White House, you won't have to pay quite as much. The rate is $110 per night plus DC taxes (which are 14.5%), for a total of $125.95 per night. To reserve our place in your name, we require a $50.00 non-refundable deposit.
