Capitol Place is a privately entranced, completely renovated five-room
apartment. It is the entire lower level of a century old Victorian town house
located in the historic district of Capitol Hill, in a well established and
friendly neighborhood just off Lincoln Park. It is within easy walking distance
of the US Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Congressional Buildings,
the Tourmobile Tourist stops, the Eastern Market and Union Station Metrorail
(subway) stops and attractions, and it is one block from the City Bus lines.
From the Capitol, it is about a ten to fifteen minutes walk to reach the
Smithsonian Mall and its Museums. The apartment’s downtown neighborhood
location, convenient to the monuments, memorials, and museums, as well as to
government and business, is equally appealing to the tourist and to the business
traveler.
In addition to A Capitol Place B and B apartment, when available and for longer term rentals, we rent the Main Victorian House fully equipped, with its two separate bedroom suites and rooms of antiques and collections. If you are interested in an unhosted long term rental of either the Main House or the B and B private apartment, ask us for our long term policy, pricing and pictures.
The historic neighborhood is home to Eastern Market, which is a landmark in itself and has been operating for over 100 years. There are second and third generation family operated open food stalls inside and on the weekends it has an outdoor flea and antique market, a farmers market, and an arts and crafts market. Capitol Hill with its town homes with flower filled front yards, and its tree-lined streets with interesting and unique shops and neighborhood café and restaurants, offers a friendly, small town flavor and atmosphere, yet it is right in the heart of downtown, Washington, DC. Your hosts, Mary and Jim Pellettieri, have lived on Capitol Hill and the surrounding area for twenty-five plus years, in between tours in Europe. They enjoy sharing their knowledge of the Capitol City and the Capitol Hill neighborhood with their guests.

The apartment’s private French door entrance leads into a sunny bay-fronted living room with dining room area. The apartment has a desk, a private telephone line with answering machine, and wireless Internet. The door from the sitting room leads to a private brick patio for our guests. There is a color cable TV and radios. The rooms are individually heated and air conditioned for year round personal comfort. The apartment has many historical and current books on Washington and extensive touring information. For moments of relaxation after a busy day of business or tourist activities, there is a library of over ten shelves of books and magazines.

The
apartment’s "sitting room", with its Belgian library bed and antique
furniture, is a quiet place to rest and relax; yet it can accommodate two twin
beds. The apartment’s master bedroom has a
queen-size bed. There is a full linen closet and the
bathroom is modern with a tub and a shower.
The apartment’s kitchen is fully equipped with china, crystal, cutlery, pots and pans, toaster, and electric coffee maker. It has a new full size stove, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, and microwave. The refrigerator is stocked with complimentary breakfast foods: muffins, bagels, bread, jams and jellies, juice, and eggs, as well as snacks: cheese, crackers, fruits, and soft drinks and bottled water. The landmark platter of homemade chocolate brownies welcomes the guest upon arrival at A Capitol Place. Our guests enjoy sharing refreshments and conversation with us in the Main House, and we enjoy sharing our home and city with them.
